GLOVER
2016 - ongoing
Situated within a designated historic area, this mixed-use project provided a challenge to the architects to stand out as a distinctly 21st century building, while still recognizing the heritage value of the surrounding context. The building consciously seeks to be a respectful yet modern insertion into the historic village of Fort Langley.
In keeping with the scale of the neighborhood, the streetscape massing of the design is broken into 2 mass forms, and follows the rhythm of the adjacent buildings. Corten steel, concrete and glass accentuate the simple forms while reflecting to the traditional materials of the area. Large glazed facades give the opportunity to reflect the adjacent historic buildings.
